Charlie Rodriguez

InsideOut Art Show Participating Artist since 2016

“Daydream Another Day is a surrealistic painting I did for this art show. I started this piece with washes of acrylic paint for the background. As I moved to the foreground, I created the flowers with a stippling technique and the tree has similar techniques, except for the layering of colors. I used these same techniques for the rest of my subjects on the canvas."

“In Daydream Another Day, I worked from my imagination and desires. I was thinking of my daughters when I created this piece. Unfortunately, I lost my oldest daughter, Carisma Rodriguez, days before her eighth birthday in 2010. My other daughter, Carizha Rodriguez, is growing without me in her life, which is something I really miss. This is why I created this piece, because with them in my mind, I have hope for the future to be with them.”
