Rev. Al Lopez is an ordained Disciples of Christ minister with 10 years’ experience as a pastor. His vision initiated the 2013 creation of UrbanMission (UCC/DOC), a fresh expression of the 21st-century church located in south Pomona, California.
Al is UrbanMission’s Lead Pastor; he also serves as President/CEO and a co-founder of the related non-profit organization, UrbanMission Community Partners (UMCP), which became an Affiliate Ministry of the Disciples’ National Benevolent Association in 2016.
In addition, Al is a New Church Planter on staff with the Southern California-Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ, and is a certified Coach-In-Training with the International Coach Federation. He was inspired by The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations, to found UrbanMission as an “upside-down” church with several dozen institutional partners; its mission is “welcoming the broken, partnering in love.”
