Rev./Farmer Stephen Yorba Patten, ordained in the Disciples of Christ, is another of the founding co-pastors of UrbanMission (UCC/DOC) and has served as its Community Wellness Minister since 2013 while working full-time as an educator at Damien High School.

Stephen’s theology of radical hospitality led him to establish Open Table Community programs as UrbanMission began: A weekly Open Table Dinner, now in its fifth year of offering food and building community among south Pomona’s under-served and marginalized neighbors; and an Open Pantry and Open Closet with giveaway food, hygiene items, and clothing.

Stephen is also a co-founder and Community Wellness Director of the non-profit UrbanMission Community Partners and holds certification as a California Master Gardener. He oversees the SOPO (South Pomona) Community Garden to grow produce and provide education in a neighborhood where many go hungry each day and lack access to fresh, healthy food options.
