Working Toward a Vision of a Healthier Community

Many of our neighbors in south Pomona experience homelessness, hunger, and limited health care access. The median income in our area is $16,000 per year; poverty and unemployment limit many individual and family choices when it comes to health care and wellness.

In partnership with local major health care organizations and educational institutions, UMCP offers classes in Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL); Family Wellness Days; and Community Health Fairs/Clinics on the campus of our host partner, UrbanMission, a United Church of Christ/Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregation.

Students in nursing, pharmacy, optometry, osteopathic medicine, and other medi-cal/care disciplines get “real life” experiences working with vulnerable populations at our UrbanMission Community Wellness Center. In this, everyone benefits.

We Are In This Together

The UrbanMission Community Wellness Center was established in 2017 in order to bring community partners like these together to offer free health and wellness education for families and individuals limited by access.
